Elegance, charm and prodigious ancestral legacies

The elegant capital of the department of La Libertad is one of the most beautiful cities on Peru’s northern coast. Known as the «City of Eternal Spring» because of its mild climate, the city of Trujillo was named after the town in the Spanish region of Extremadura where the conquistador Francisco Pizarro was born in 1478. The streets around the elegant main square have retained their air of colonial splendor. The city’s architectural jewels include its magnificent colonial-era churches and splendid, well-preserved mansions like Casa Ganoza Chopitea, Mayorazgo de Facala and Casa Urquiaga. In addition to its urban splendor, Trujillo also offers visitors the charming seaside resorts of Huanchaco and Puerto Chicama.
