SOLMARTOUR is conscious of the fact that good sustainable tourism practices play an essential role in the protection and wellbeing of the environment and the local communities in the places where we operate. That is why we make every effort to the importance of caring for and preserving the places we visit those who choose to travel with us, while benefiting local communities through a positive exchange of experiences with travelers. In Chivay-Colca, one recent initiative has been the incorporation of embroidered designs that decorate local traditional clothing into useful items for tourists, such as water bottle holders, coin purses, etc. As part of SOLMARTOUR’s ongoing commitment to the local craftspeople, we actively support initiatives such as this one, by regularly purchasing the embroidered handcrafts produced by the women of this part of Peru.
